Okay.  So my cat is back from the vet's office after being declawed.....and in the 14 hours I have had him back in my charge, we have managed to break pretty much EVERY rule they discharged him with!  Sigh.  No paws in the water dish.  He did that.  No using sand cat litter.  Did that.  Keep him penned up in a room and activity to a minimal- yeah right.  No jumping- thought I had that covered.  Nope- my running towards him to KEEP him from jumping off the bed scared him and catapaulted him into a full on launch off of the bed.  Sigh.  Then came giving him his meds.  I tell ya -  who's bright idea was it to make an  8 year old  cat swallow a 100mg human tablet of Amoxy??  Yeah.  Give me a suspension or an injectible any day!  Anyways, when the soggy half dissolved antibiotic and pain med were finally swallowed on the 3rd attempt, I penned him up in my room and flew off late to BSF, feeling like a totally failed pet-parent! ha.  The amusing thing is that I was up like 6 times in the night putting Billy into the NEW litter box of pellets (what cat would be keen on pellets??!) ...and then I left the door open to my room for 10 seconds this am......and you guessed it!  He had outwitted me, by running down the 2 flights of tile stairs (ouch to his paws!) and launched himself into- yes- the forbidden SAND cat litter box!  I however, was right on his heels, and found him looking triumphant, in the box like "I held it all night and am in the REAL deal box!"  Much to his dismay it was short lived, as I snached him OUT of there and proceeded to fill that litter box with pellets too.   As he is feeling triumphant, all i am thinking is, " I wasted half the night trying to get you to USE the silly pellet box and you billigerently HELD It all night and are in the FORBIDDEN SAND litter!"  Although part of me was secretly amused and proud of his smartness! hehe. Anyhow.  That being said......

A few "Snapshots" from my time back East! :)

... I know, hard to SEE the pics.....will post actual pictures here soon, but this will work for now.... :0)

PS- Have I mentioned I am protesting?  It's true.  I've now been back on the West Coast for 3 days......and have yet to change my wristwatch back to Pacific Time.  Sigh. :0)

Thought from BSF tonight that was so simple and yet so profound...

"God *truly* is all we need.  *All* the time.  Even if He never does another thing for me-- what he has done is enough."

Wow. :)

So, today in my A and P class, we were going over various different cell structures, etc.  One thought absolutely impressed me, in a couple of ways.  Our bodies are absolutely amazingly and wonderfully made.  My professor- who is quite established and known for his work in Anatomy and Phisiology field, said ..."Our bodies are amazingly put together......amazingly designed....it's really incredible..." but stopped there.  I wanted to add, "Yes!  And God is the one who CREATED them that way!"  Our cells did not "mutate" from the animal cells and become "sophisticated"!

Think on this.  We have these little microscopic "villi" covering  the plasma membrane on some types of our cells. The cells that make up our intestines, for example, are covered in this.  So you're saying, "who cares", right?  Well, get this.  These little microscopic "folds" add just enough surface area to make our intestines - all 12 feet of them, work so efficiently and increase the surface size so much that,. without these little MICROSCOPIC "villi" the circumfrance of our intestines would need to be the size of a 50 gallon oil drum to do the same job!!! Try putting 12 feet of intestines with that diameter in your stomach!  Isnt' that amazing??!    I was pretty impressed.

Our professor also used this analogy re: our body's amazing structure.  Okay, so one tiny little cell (which has to be viewed thru a microscop to see) contains all the DNA- the genetic make up and blue print for your ENTIRE body.  He compared our new health and science building - an elaborate building- to this.  The volumes and books that it took to contain the blueprints to build this structure a few years ago........and how EASY the blueprints were for this complex building in comparison to the complexness of the blueprints for building a body........ and yet it took volumes to put the blueprints down on paper for this complex building........and yet one tiny little microscopic cell- of which hundreds could fit on a pin- just ONE of these little microscopic cells contain an even SMALLER component called the nucleus- which has all the information for building an entire new YOU- right there!- which is SOO much more complex than a college building!  (Sounds to me like my professor is inadvertantly building up a great arguement towards the fact only God COULD do this!!)

And the thing that gets me (here I go..;)) is that we were talking today about  the "Fluid Mosaic Model" in the body.... showing how the cell and it's plasma membrane and it's proteins, carbohydrates, etc and how they inter-relate to each other/ interact.  And yet the professor had to stress that what we were viewing was a MODEL as no one has ever actually SEEN this live relationship in action ......but because of the properties/ structures and formulas, this is how it HAS to be.... and I just wanted to chuckle to myself.  Why?  Just because even in science a lot of it is not concrete.  Faith comes in.  "Well, if you look at this and this......then THIS just HAS to be the product......there's no other way....."  the professor says...       And I'm not arguing with this "fluid mosaic model"-- seems right on to me!  I'm just saying, faith comes into play in science as well........ :)  Whether professors know it or not!

I'm just thankful that I can look at our incredibly complex bodies......and marvel and thank God for His amazing handiwork!!
